Pokémon card value, FAQ
- How do I check a Pokémon card's value?
- Type the card name plus its set number (e.g. "Umbreon ex SAR 217/187") into Casecomp. We pull live and recently sold listings from eBay, Yahoo Auctions JP, magi.camp and SNKRDUNK in one view, so you see what the card actually trades for, not what sellers are asking.
- What's the difference between raw and slab pricing?
- Raw is the ungraded card. Slab is the same card sealed in a graded case (PSA, BGS, CGC, TAG). Casecomp splits the two and lets you filter by grade, so a PSA 10 comp never gets averaged with a raw copy.
- Do Pokémon cards go up in value?
- Some do, most don't. Modern sealed product and chase cards from popular sets (Umbreon, Charizard, Pikachu special arts) tend to appreciate; bulk commons stay flat. Casecomp's 5/15/30-day price trends show whether a specific card is moving up, down, or sideways right now.
- What's the most valuable Pokémon card?
- Pikachu Illustrator (PSA 10) holds the record at over $5M. Below that, the high-value tier is dominated by 1st Edition Base Set Charizard, Trophy cards, and modern PSA 10 special arts like Umbreon ex (SV: Prismatic Evolutions).
- Is Casecomp free?
- Yes, anyone can search, see comps, and get an AI pre-grade for free. The public API also has a free demo tier for developers.
